Literary Open Mic Application

This year, the Tamarack Festival is hosting a Literary Open Mic!

This is an opportunity for local writers to read their work in front of an audience and be paid industry wages.

Readings must be between 5 minutes and 10 minutes in length, and suitable for a general audience.

Selected artists will be paid $150 for their offering, in alignment with

The Writers' Union of Canada's reading rate for partial readings.

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you MUST:

  • be based in Timmins or one of the smaller communities surrounding Timmins

  • be available Saturday, September 13th, 2025

  • complete an application form

  • submit the material you wish to read for review by the selection committee

We've tried to make the submission process as accessible as possible. If you have questions, require assistance in completing the application form or need an alternate format, email us at tamarackfestival@gmail.com or speak with the Adult Services Librarian at the Timmins Public Library.

The Tamarack Arts Association is committed to accessibility, inclusion and diversity. We invite writers of ALL ages, genders, races, cultures and abilities to apply and we strongly encourage writers from equity-deserving groups to apply.

Submissions will be accepted until 11:59pm on July 31st, 2025. Successful applicants will be notified mid-August.
