Introducing our 2025 Artists-in-Residence!

Stefani Celine
Stefani Celine lives and works in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She holds an Honours Degree in Fine Arts in ceramics from Lakehead University (2014). Her visual art has exhibited in group shows in Canada and Europe. Her artistic practice ranges a multitude of mediums - from drawing, painting and sculpture to performance - and explores a diverse variety of themes. She is also known to be an actor, director, set designer and emerging playwright.
Most recently her 10 minute play Wash, Rinse was staged at the Magnus Theatre 10 by 10 Short Play Festival, and she is proud to be directing the World Premier theatre production of Moosefucker, Ontario by Andrew Paulsen for Thunder Bay audiences this summer.
While not at the theatre or working in the studio, Stefani enjoys outdoor adventures with her dog H.W. and taking in the Northern Ontario landscape.

Ian McCormack
Ian McCormack (they/them) is a neurodivergent and queer playwright, dramaturg, producer, and puppeteer born and raised in North Bay, Ontario, who splits their time between the north and Montréal, Quebec. With a focus on politics and social change, Ian’s theatre practice combines absurdity with reality, to create new works of theatre that transcend bodies and abilities.
Ian is the Artistic Producer of Dense & Stage, a queer and neurodivergent theatre collective in Montréal. Ian has cultivated a transdisciplinary practice, working with a variety of companies including Teesri Duniya Theatre (Montreal, QC), Theatre By The Bay (Barrie, ON) and the Bread & Puppet Theatre (Vermont).
An award-winning playwright, they’ve presented their original plays at several Canadian theatre festivals. Ian’s newest play Cornflake premiered with Dense & Stage in 2024, touring fringe festivals across Eastern Canada (Montreal Fringe, Ottawa Fringe, PEI’s Island Fringe, ON THE EDGE Fringe, etc). Other select playwriting credits include De-PATTERN (2024 Concordia Short Works Festival) and To Torture a Prince (2022 ON THE EDGE Fringe Festival, Juror’s Choice Award winner).
Ian is excited to step into the role of Artist-in-Residence at the 2025 Tamarack Festival, as they begin to write a new Northern Ontario play exploring themes of loss, memory, prejudice, and lifecycle.

Elizabeth Rosell
Elizabeth lives in Timmins with her cat Belle. As a writer, she is always trying to explore the uncommon, the different, whether that be through an other-worldly science fiction story or in a non-fiction piece on otherness.
She works primarily in the genres of science fiction, sci-fi romance, memoir, creative non-fiction, and, most recently, she has taken up poetry again.

From an early age Elizabeth struggled with her mental health and was later diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. After many years of remaining silent, today she tries to be an advocate for the de-stigmatization of mental health issues, especially in the workplace.

Elizabeth has been published in The Seat, Punk Monk, The Amphibian, and Yale’s The Perch. When not writing, she spends her spare time crafting and baking. She can be found online at www.ElizabethRosell.com.
