POETRY READING APPLICATION
This year, the Tamarack Festival is hosting a Poetry Reading!
This is an opportunity for local writers to read their work in front of an audience for a chance to win $100 in one of five categories:

The People's Choice Award
(selected by the audience)
02.
The Literary Hero Award
(selected by the Timmins Public Library staff)
03.
The Tamarack Award
(selected by the Tamarack Festival team)
04.
The Poet's Poet Award
(selected by featured poet, Kim Fahner)
05.
The Young Poet Award
(selected by Artist-in-Residence, Kyrie Babin)
Please Note:
In order to be considered for this opportunity, you MUST:

​be based in Timmins or one of the smaller communities surrounding Timmins

be available the evening of Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026

complete an application form

on paper (see the Adult Services Librarian at the Timmins Public Library)

submit the material you wish to read for review by the selection committee
Poems must be no more than 5 minutes in length and suitable for a general audience.

We've tried to make the submission process as accessible as possible. If you have questions, require assistance in completing the application form or need an alternate format, email us at tamarackfestival@gmail.com or speak with the Adult Services Librarian at the Timmins Public Library.

Submissions will be accepted until 11:59pm on August 31st, 2026. Successful applicants will be notified the first week of September.
